I'm an American currently living in China. I've been teaching in Asia for about 6 years, and now I'd like to experience a little bit of Latin America. I'm retired, but I'll teach private students wherever I go. I really enjoy teaching, have a degree, a TEFL cert, and 6 years under my belt. Oh, BTW, I speak a little bit better than survival Spanish.
I know from reading the forum that Buenos Aires is more expensive than the provincial cities. Is it worth the difference in price? And are prices going up rapidly in BA? I just don't want to move there and go from middle class to lower class. My income right now would be enough to live comfortably in BA, but not if prices keep going up.
And how's the food in BA? I know the steaks are superb, and the wine is pretty good too, but is there variety in the food, or is it all just pretty much the same?
And are portenas good students?
Thanks in advance for any replies. |

ba has gotten more expensive but it's still very cheap compared to say, new york. the other cities are cheaper but with less access to the luxuries and amenities you have in buenos aires.
the vast majority of the food is either argentine or italian. having said that, you can get sushi and middle eastern cuisine pretty easilly, although the selection of food in the supermarkets is poor, things like fresh fish or chillies are quite difficult to find. |
