A studio in London in a really nice area (Maida Vale, Pimlico, Bayswater etc) will be around 600 a month for 1 room in a stucco block. A shared flat in Zone 3, perhaps east (West Ham, Bow) or North (Tottenham, Harringay) will be around 325 a month + bills. You might find the odd place for under 300 but it'll be a dump.

In Edinburgh its very expensive too, I'd say 450 for a studio and about 250 for a flatshare.

The top in end in Glasgow starts the same, but it will be possible to find a studio in a Tenement out east for around 300+ and shared flats for students from around 180+

Glasgow is a really fun city too, though rough in parts, Edinburgh is beautiful but not as lively.

If I was you I'd also consider Manchester which has similar prices to Glasgow.
