From what I know... which isnt much cost of living is fairly high over there, because they have to "import" things from other parts of Indonesia...
I have a friend whose family lives there (they are javanese) and they are always looking for things here in Jakarta that they can't get over there.
Even if 5 million is good, the plane tickets to ANYWHERE else in Indonesia will be expensive, which is about minimum 1 million for a one way trip to Jakarta at least....
I wouldnt move there to be honest |

I read in the Lonely Planet guide that alcohol is banned in several parts of Papua. Can anyone who has been there vouch for that? The population of Jayapura is also mostly Javanese as it was a major centre of transmigration in years gone by. |

It's been a few years since I've been there, but beer was easily available in Timika and Biak as well as Mansion House and a few other rotgut brands of liquor. |

nobody can argue that the salary is not good but if making money is no issue for you then it could be quite a place to have an adventure.
teluk cendrawasih national park is close by and that, combined with the surrounding, untouched ( well, sort of) natural landscape, harbours many animals that can only be found there. the highest concetration of "birds of paradise" anywhere in the world. and thats just the beginning!!
pm me if you are interested in any further wildlife facts of the area ( and i know you all are), MOD EDIT |
