So I'm looking at signing on with Kojen, and I've read good things about them on this board, but they pay seems really low.
580-590 an hour, no housing, AND Saturday work.
And only 20 hours guaranteed a week.
How much does single housing usually cost? Taiwan seems like the only Asian country where it's really common to have roommates, and I'm not really down with that. It seems like I'd be taking home less money than if I went to Japan for a comparable standard of living.
I'm starting to remember why I went to Korea in the first place!? |

Taiwan is not where the money is. You can do far better in Japan or Korea. Shanghai has better pay than Taiwan.
The money has moved on and if you are chasing it, so should you.
On the other hand if you are looking for a sometimes painful educational experience in a semi confucious almost Chinese culture. Taiwan is a great place.
Good luck!

Well, you can find better than what u mentioned re Kojen.. but it wont be that much better.
Look at: www.tealit.com Or www.esl99.com Or taiwanted.com
However, most employers advertising on those sites want you to call them and meet them for an interview within days of your application to those employers... so that means you have to take the dive (and working in Taiwan really is a dive) down here and risk losing a substantial chunk of that savings you amassed working in Korea...

I wasn't making a point. That's why my sentence ended with a question mark. Aristotle says he's in Taiwan, but he says, "Taiwan is not where the money is. You can do far better in Japan or Korea. Shanghai has better pay than Taiwan." Okay, I understand that some people might not be all about the money, but then he goes on to describe Taiwan as "a sometimes painful educational experience." He makes Taiwan sound like ass in this post and many others, yet he's in Taiwan. So, I'm wondering what keeps him in Taiwan. Is it the food, the quality of the massage parlors, the beaches, a wife who won't leave Taiwan, or what? |

That's right friend.
Stay in K-Land. Taiwan is ass. The money left Taiwan a long time ago and the uneducated, hill billy mentality there makes it place for failures and drop outs.
Grade:
Taiwan = "F" |
