Hi guys. I just recently quit smoking and I'm trying to keep it that way. It's such a disguisting thing to be addicted to. Since I want to go to Japan eventually I want to know if smoking cigs is popular there. Do a lot of people smoke and is it allowed in most bars/clubs etc? I need to know so I can be smoke free. |

It'll be hard. Cigarettes are really cheap in Japan, and they have Mild Seven, which are the best cigarettes ever. |

AAAAAARRGGGHHHHHH!!!
Please don't get me started on this. Smoking in Japan is the bane of my existence.
Where else but here do I have to have a bloody asthma attack waiting in line at McDonalds? No joke! Everyone friggin' smokes EVERYWHERE! It's bloody COMMON to have to wade through Cheech&Chong clouds of smoke just to get to the fuggin' NON-SMOKING SECTION!!!!!!
I really wish people would show a little bit more sensitivity. Jeez. Don't even get me started on this. It's a sore point with me.... |

I am not insensitive to the plight of non-smokers, but stuff like this confounds me. If somewhere is too smoky, just don't go there! I freaking hate bars with tvs. If a bar has a tv, I don't say the owners are insensitive (it's THEIR BUSINESS, not mine). I just don't go there.
I know tv poses no health risk (or, someone will try to convince me it's better for you than smoking), but really, complaining about the environments of businesses that are just trying to make money and keep their customers happy is unfair.
The customers aren't insensitive, either. They probably chose that place because they could smoke there. I know that's the only reason I ever went to McDonalds in Japan. |

If you enjoy Starbucks you could spend many smoke-free hours there. Otherwise, good luck. |

I try to hold my breath and close off my nose but when I come close to fainting I realize that there really isnt anything you can do to escape the smoke....we do sometimes avoid places though that dont give you place to hide from it.
No, here is the worst...the guy that lives next to me in my apartment smokes out on his balcony (which is only separated from mine by a wall) and if we ever go out there our open our door or hang out our clothes we can smell it...it makes my husband super mad...but I tell him that he has his rights and that we just need to hold our breath until it is over.....lol....... |

This sounds like a great suggestion but just exactly where would that be?
When I am walking down the street there are people smoking and the smoke blows back into my face
In the train station there is a smoking section which is just a can for putting out cigarettes and again the wind blows the smoke everywhere
many restaurants have non smoking sections that are not separated by anything so ... the smoke blows everywhere
Kids in High school are told not to smoke (but they do anyway in the lavatories) while teachers smoke sometimes visibly, (where students can see them) makes no sense
Cigarette vending machines everywhere, you have to be 20 and over to smoke what stops anyone from buying cigarettes?
Many many women smoke in this country. It is difficult to find a female partner who doesn't smoke. |

Having a "no smoking" section in a restaurant is like having a "no peeing" section in a swimming pool. Both are just about as equally effective. |

Well, I am sure you can't affect others with second-hand lard but what type of person concerned for their health eats at McDonalds? |
