I thought I was until I saw you have over 7,000 posts. A dude named Ken Kaniff on Ajarn has over 20,000. He's also a member here under the same name. When I compare myself to you guys, I think I'm ok. |

I long ago gave up any hope of a cure or treatment.
You know what the worst sign is? Some of us at the Mexico forum meet once a month or so and some of the bar chat revolves around Dave's, and terribly, we have to refer to others by their screen names. Like some secret society.
"Oh, that DaveinMex42...what a character!"
"Yeah, and did you see what Hot2TrotTEFL wrote? Outrageous!!" |

I don't think I'm so much a Davesaholic as I am an egoholic or vanityholic.
I just like to hear myself say things and give unneeded advice to people who could probably care less what I have to say and I delude myself into thinking what I have to say may be of importance to someone or indeed even read and not just skimmed over.
Sometimes I think back to the good old days when I could really get the flames buring on the old forum. Funny how people listen more to the offensive and arrogant.
So I'll be honest - I'm addicted to myself. When I come here the first thing I do is go to "my posts" and read what people had to say about what I said.

Still here, but don't post very regularly. There seem to be a lot of people who have completely disappeared from Dave's - people who posted voraciously (can you post voraciously?) then melted back into the ether.
I haven't come across any other forum that is as diverse - and popular - as this one, though. I like the fact that there are plenty of us old farts - oops "old timers" who haven't left yet. |

I didn't post there, but I think I was on my ONE YEAR PAID SABBATICAL at that time...
Now I'm thinking of going back to the user name MELEE, under which I made 1335 posts and am the 52nd highest poster. As prestige seems to count.
Is it true that Capergirl got banned? I was banned once, but protested and was reinstated. It's a shame she'd just go away like that. Same with moonraven. I do miss her!
As for diversity and popularity, Teacher in Rome, do you mean just English teacher forums? I'm on a parents of twins forum that has over 10,000 members and at any give time there are at least 1000 people on-line. And very deverse, in terms of race, social class, age, religion, mostly Americans though there are other English speakers on there too, the only thing we all have in common is we all have Twins!
Listen to the mama! |

I voraciously lurk! It's very likely that I will switch my posting into high gear in the next few years. I look forward to it, as I love it here. Despite it's dysfunctional strangeness.
Actually, that's probably why I like it so much. Familiarity! |

I just noticed that you are the poster with the second highest number of posts on this entire discussion forum. Think of it this way: your the second greatest poster on this forum in the entire world! Almost a world champion! Roger has only 9700 or so! Come on! You can beat him!

Yes, I remember that thread. Unfortunately, some of the best posters are no longer posting (what does that say about us?).
Anyone have any updated treatments for Davealholicism? |

Proud to say I'm a new Dave'saholic...is that still the accepted politically correct term. Was just reading the old thread and it has been resurrected and wow - I saw myself in so many posts
looks around in time to see a dust bunny skate across the floor
I'm feeling weak, perhaps I should make something to eat...nah must find out if anyone posted in the newbie forum...
on a serious note though, I started by lurking a lot before coming to Mexico and only started seriously posting once I arrived. It's nice to have a community of people with the same interests when you don't have access to them in your community |

Quantity or quality, quantity or quality . . .
I remember when most of us had to re-register - five or six years back?
Okay, I admit I am just poking at your bubbles. |
