Hi, I just moved here to Qingdao and feel like I've made a mistake with the job I've taken. I have a Bachelor's in English, and I signed a 1 year contract with one of the local schools, and it is a meager salary, even though I rent my own apartment. Is it possible to get out of this contract? I signed while I still lived in the states, and now my wife and 4 daughters are here with me, ages 4, 2, and two 9 month olds. I'm making just enough to pay my rent, which is 4000 RMB a month. I came with some savings, but I'm afraid I might run out of money if I don't find something better. If it is a problem to terminate the contract, what about private tutoring? I thought I might be able to supplement my income if I held a 2 hour session in my apartment on the weeknights, maybe I could get a small group of students, like 6 or 7 of them. I have no idea what to charge, or if this is even possible. Somebody please give me some advice, I am getting no answers in Qingdao. Thank you,
Matt

Resisting the urge to lecture, I'd say its a fine mess you've gotten into, and provided you have return air tickets, best solved by rapid repatriation.
Whatever made you think 6 people could live on 4K, especially with no housing supplied?

And how come 18 of your 19 posts have been deleted? Is there something you don't want us to know? Is this a setup?

this or similar was posted before.

their was a shout of troll....a lot of arguing, and I guess the thread was deleted.

I think the OP said he was testing the water by asking the question. But I dont think it is actually real....

Apologies if I have this wrong....but Im pretty sure it was exactly the same story
