this is a subject that many at my work complain about. i'm sure they have many valid points. it seems that here in turkey the infighting is very intense.... backstabbing, smily face and knife in the back

are there any reasons for that??

Shouting seems to be a lot more acceptable here, but maybe they just tolarate me more.

Seriously though folks, I've seen two girls really screaching at each other in my office, it was pretty hot to be honest.

There is a huge cultural gap between foreign "visitors" and the locals consequently when ever a little bit of banter between two "visitors" takes place the locals reckon (wrongly as it happens) there is a ding dong of major proportions taking place ,one thing leads to another and about a week or two later someone has fallen out with a third or fourth party because of a misunderstanding between two different languages which the locals think they understand ,but don't . Hence bad feelings start and fester and little groups gather in corners and bad mouth someone in another corner who they think don't really understand what they are talking about or who .Happens on both side of the fence .İgnorance and gossip is a dangerous combination . Generally the administration does not go out of its way to stop it ,more like the reverse . No prizes for guessing which side they are on !

In that koleji I worked for, the head of the English department was the biggest offender. She b.tch.d about other teachers after they left the room and boasted that she could lie to parents and WOW they would believe her. Rolling Eyes

The worst was when co-workers knew that so-n-so was getting the sack BEFORE so-n-so knew. Nice.

one of the truest things every written on this board.

From a management point of view I have often been amazed when teachers knew what was happening in a school before I did..... Of course as Suzie said ignorance and gossip.....
