Hi guys

This is my first post. So i will introduce my self first
My name is Tom Lachlan and i am aussie. I am 22yrs old.
I recently(the last year) have found a passion for Japanese martial arts
and would like to move to near Tokyo to train at the Honbu Dojo of my martial art.
I do not have a degree and have never been to university.
I know that i can get a working holiday visa to stay in japan for a little while.
Is it possible for someone like me to get a job in japan. and earn enough to support my self and not have to work in the evening?

I hope i was clear enough in what i wrote

Thanks Tom Lachlan

What do you hope to do for work?
If you train during the day, how will you find time to work in the daytime?

Well without a degree you are on the outside running for any type of decent teaching gig. Unfortunately teaching is the main job option for English speaking expats. Then you're left with menial jobs in the hospitality industry, modelling etc. Take a look at job listings on gaijinpot.com, seek japan, etc and see what your options are. Basically imagine a nonEnglish speaking immigrant arriving in Australia and what they end up doing - just no taxi work.

My advice. Take a cold shower for your passion. Train like crazy back home (your not going to learn the ancient secrets of the Japanese masters after year of training) think about a job that you could do in Japan and get the qualifications you need to get that job first, then head over. Oh and learn Japanese really well.

If you really must come to Japan before you do a degree, check out MOFA info.
http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/w_holiday/index.html

If you want some really hard training in the culture, language and farming, you could find yourself WWOOFing on farms in the region. - http://www.wwoofjapan.com/index_e.shtml

Markle's right - eikaiwas may prefer you don't speak Japanese, but it sure makes the experience.
