Does anyone have any good recommendations for coffee places in Tokyo? It would be nice to know of a few really great places... I haven't found one yet that I really like. If you've got any recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

While I can't offer any recommendations for Tokyo, I've got one for anyone living in the northwestern part of Osaka (i.e. Toyonaka, Ikeda, Itami). Just north of Diamond City Itami, on the road that runs north alongside the river, there's a great place called "Hiro". It's two floors, with the first floor selling coffee supplies, and the actual cafe on the second floor. They have a huge selection of world coffees, with a nice patio facing Itami Airport's runways (allowing for a nice view of planes taking off), and all of their furniture was deep brown wood. Anyway, it had a great atmosphere and I'd certainly recommend it. (the only drawback was the planes were sometimes a bit too noisy).

Ben's cafe fits the bill, not for the best or good for the money coffee, but the owner and the atmosphere of the place. Ben's cafe in Takadanobaba has been there 10 years plus and is a Waseda students and 'local' foreigner hangout. Some of the foreigners use it more as a bar.

Why are they attracted to it? Poetry readings, different regular art is displayed every 2 weeks (all kinds of stuff, photography, paintings, etc), and they also sometimes used to have a comedy night there as well. Cool place just to chill or meet friends, gets crowded on warmer nights when the front doors are opened.

Try Sega Fredo. There is one in Hiroo, Shibuya, Roppongi Hills etc.

Blenz on Aoyamadori, just a few steps from Omotesando Station. It's the first (maybe only?) coffee shop run by the Vancouver, Canada Blenz chain. Good for homesick Canadians, and anyone craving a maple syrup cookie.

The best coffee shop in Tokyo?

Well if I told you everyone would go there and it wouldn't be the best anymore!

Clue: It's in Harajuku up some stairs near HMV.
