If any of you in the Guadalajara area are into classical music the Northern Lights Music festival in Ajijic is definitely worth checking out. We don't get good classical music down here often so it's nice to have this once a year. Most of the people who go are all old retired people living in Chapala but the music is really top notch.

Maybe I'm just pushing this because my brother is the director of the festival! haha But all the concerts sell out every year so if you're interested in this type of thing you really need to buy your tickets now.
I'll be at the Aaron Brock Memorial concert on the 17th and the String Quartet concert on the 25th. |

I'm surprised you don't get good music there, but then maybe I'm just not the connoisseur that you are, but one of my favorite young trovadors is actually studying Musica Sacra at the conservatory in Guadajara, I would think they conservatories students give regular recitals, do they not? I know the ones at the school in Morelia did and I thought they were top notch. |

I hate to say it but there's a reason that 95% of all the musicians in the Mexican orchestras are *not* Mexican. Classical music just isn't very popular down here. I don't mean to put them down or anything as I'm sure there are a couple good musicians that come out of U de G but.... you can't even compare it to the likes of Juilliard or any real musical school. |
