Hi,
I will hopefully be making the move to Madrid from NYC in a few months but have a question as far as cell/mobile phone use. For anyone that knows about this stuff, what company and plan do you think is best for someone who would do a little travelling but for the most part will be in Madrid? Also, would you recommend bringing an "unlocked" phone to hook up there or do you think i'm better off just buying a new phone there (because maybe there are good deals on phones with a new setup). Thank you very much for any insight you may have!

the price plans are pretty standard for europe. vodafone, orange (formely amena) and telefonica are the main companies. if you're happy with your unlocked phone, the pay as you go tariffs are probably best, as you're not tied to a contract.

You might want to check the band of the phone you currently have. In Europe, the band is 900/1800 and phones in the Americas are often 1900 band, which makes them incompatible. Unless of course you're lucky enough to be able to afford tri-band. Wink
