Has anyone posting here tried the bus service from Dammam or Jeddah to Antakya ?
It is cheap. I wonder why. Are visas available at the Jordanian and Syrian borders ? I mean for British passport-holders. aand other running dogs. |

I have heard from the Turks here that there is no problem. You have to wait a bit at the borders as buses are held up. It takes the best part of 2 days and nights to get just to Iskenderun and then you have another day to get to Ist. The bus goes from Riyadh and Hail to Iskenderun also. I have seen signs in Laleli in Istanbul advertising buses to most parts of Saudi including Kamis Mushayt. The Turks like it not only because it is cheap but because you can take 120 kilos of luggage. |

It was suggested to me by my Turkish barber who is from Antioch (Antakya) and a Glasgow Rangers supporter. |

Things Turkish barbers and restaurant workers here tell you:
The bus is a good way to travel to Turkey.
Turkey is heaven. |

I went to a chippie in Dubai once just off the Defence roundabout. There was an East European kid serving chips and he had the whole place decked out in Rangers memorabilia. The wee guy knew more about the club than I did...Rangers came to Dubai 2 weeks later for their pre-season warm-up and who did I find outside the stadium on the night of the game but none other than the spotty faced Bulgarian Rangers supporter serving chips to very drunk Glaswegians and bemused Arabs from a portable chip serving stall. I sh+t you not. I might add that there was a lone Celtic supporter in the opposite end waving an Irish flag...he left the ground before full-time. Rangers supporters turn up in the unlikeliest of places and a Turkish barber shop always welcomes Rangers supporters. |
