Anyone here had any success using a phone from the US or Canada with a Mexican provider?
In other words: Will/should I be able to unlock my phone and put a TELCEL (or other) Sim Card into my phone and have a Mexican number? |

I wouldn't bother; you can buy a phone in Mexico for as little as a bit over 400 pesos, and that includes 300 pesos air time. |

I have two unlocked phones working with TelCel Sims in them and they are working just fine. Depending on where you are going, I would recommend getting it unlocked before you go. Around here, there are only two providers so unlocking a phone is not big business and it might difficult to find someone to do it. Mine were unlocked before I came.

I tried that once before, brought my phone with me to Torreon and put my fiances SIM card into the phone and got an error message in Spanish telling me there was a SIM card error. Perhaps my phone is not supported, but I hope that is not the case.
Thanks for the info. |
