Anyone have any leads on schools hiring for next school year?
I just spent a year at a new bilingual school, and although I've been asked to return next year, the salary is just not enough. I've heard through the grapevine that teachers' salaries are going up and many schools are paying close to 1000 kd a month.
Any pearls of wisdom would be appreciated. |

it's a little late now to secure the choice positions
late dec / early jan is ideal time for that
most schools are as i write recruiting in usa/uk
when their reps return, they'll only have crumbs to throw at you
1000kd is only for ma/ms with maxed years of experience AND/or HOUSING for spouce and kids - as a general rule
all schools have turn over - typical TESLers are very niche oriented and so don't have experience or quals to teach other subjects though |

American Bilingual School is hiring alot but I found their salary to be a little low, and pressure to sign a letter of intent before your contract like you're signing to get a timeshare or you'll lose out on the opportunity of a lifetime. be prepared to negotiate the money. They're advertising on tefl.com today. Crumbs right now are about it for positions like someone said. I know Al Ru'ya is hiring and A'Takamul was recently. Al Bayan might still be...contact them all ASAP-you're pretty late. Good Luck I think I saw an ad in the Arab or Kuwait times for BSK? British School of Kuwait-but I'm not sure if I've got the right school. |

Thanks Q8.
About ABS, yes, their salary offer is way too low. They are constantly advertising for teachers, which always makes me wonder what's going on with admin.
After I started this tread, I did some research and found that there are a lot of schools looking for teachers next year and, no, there aren't just scraps, but actual good offers still on the table. I've heard from a reliable source that recruiters are having a tougher time luring teachers from the U.S. to come to the region.
Anyway, I have a few good leads and plan to make a decision soon.
Thanks, again. |

That's good news to hear. I've found it a really strange year for hiring and think maybe the Ministry of Education has slowed things down because of all the bogus teacher credentials they've come across. I've had a few offers, but have been told by several schools the contracts will be prepared in a month. in the past it's always been the same week as the interview. Good luck to us both because I also haven't signed with a school yet. |
