It's snowy, cold (minus 23) and grey here in Riga at the moment and as ever I find myself yearning for the sunny beaches of Valencia that I left in 2005. However Vlc seems a bit too much like going over old ground and 'chasing my tail' a bit so I've been considering Barcelona (want to live on the coast y'see) for the Autumn.

I'm fully confident that I could find teaching work there if I turned up in early September but the problem is that after nearly 2 academic years of teaching adults and a few well motivated (14+) teens here in Latvia the thought of going back to the stress and headaches of teaching kids fills me with horror and the market in Val seemed to be dominated by the latter.

So the question for those of you in the know is basically is it possible to make a living (ideally say 24 hours a week) in Barca just doing adult classes? I've no cert but that's not been a prob to date and I have EU passports, 4 years experience, decent references and speak Spanish and a pre-intermediate level of Catalan. Anyone?

Hi

I got a bit fed up with working way out in the sticks so paked in my job here 2 weeks ago - since then ive been keeping a very close eye to what else is available

the good news for you is that there quite a lot of new & expanding companies who teach only in company classes, so no kiddies, advertising - dont know if not having a certifcate would matter - i thnk they are more concerned with working papers etc

hope this helps
