I guess I can put it as simply as "NO".... Due to the cost of getting a Working Visa schools usually don't want to offer less than a year contract....
Perhaps as a volunteer..??
Happy New Year!

Cheers, that will save me a lot of wasted internet time.
How is teaching in Indonesia. I'm in Thailand, and have been for the last 2yrs. Indonesia is a place I've never really considered, but the few people I've talked to say it's great.

Depends who you ask. Some hate it, but Indonesia somehow gets under your skin and keeps pulling you back toward her when you go away.
Life in Thailand will have prepared you for the downsides of Indonesia - like tricky employers, rampant corruption, urban congestion etc. On the plus side is that outside Jakarta (and even inside it, to a certain extent) there is a genuine hospitality from ordinary people and there are just so many options for relaxation and holiday travel.
I made the mistake of allowing myself to be lured into a year in China by a very high salary and benefits, but that's not a mistake I intend to repeat. I'll be back in Indo once I've finished this contract. |

It's my case, too. I'd like to go to Indonesia in October and I'd be keen on a volunteer gig, but for only six months or so. Has anyone info about local orgs in Java, especially east Java? I don't want to go through the orgs I see advertising on the net -- with their fees, I could instead fly&lodge&take a cert course on Java. I don't mind working for no pay over there, but I won't pay them to work me!
Thanx in advance |
