English teachers deported to UK, U.S.

BOGOR: An American and a British citizen were deported to their home countries Wednesday after they were found to have violated their visa conditions.

Bogor Immigration Office head Ibrahim Saleh said the two were caught while teaching at an English school in Bogor on May 29.

"They were here on business visas, not working visas," he told reporters.

Deborah Sue Crawley, 58, from the United States, entered Indonesia on April 29, while Andrew Raymond Chappell, 52, arrived on Feb. 8.

According to the immigration office, Crawley was living in a house on Jl. Gatot Kaca in Bogor's Indraprasta subdistrict. Chappell also lived in the area on Jl. Arzimar.

Both were working as teachers at The British Institute on Jl. Padjajaran.

They left the country on Garuda flights out of Jakarta on Wednesday evening

Simply refuse to work for any school unless they get a KITAS in process immediately. The very first day of work they should take your passport and within 3 weeks you should be on your way to Singapore for a proper KITAS. If not, you're working for a shoddy outfit and you're taking your chances. I'm very surprised that The British Institute has resorted to shoddy practices. Shame on them. They (used to) have a good name around here.

You should get your Visa arranged before you enter the country NOT 3 weeks after.
