Any ideas for nice day outs using the seasons juhachii ticket in the kansai area?

Not interested in attempting marathon sessions on the train. Just nice, interesting places within a couple of hours or so.

Oh just saw a BBC show on rockpools in England. Is there any Japanese equivilant on the kansai coast?

Nara, Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji. If you're looking to go a bit further out, Takeno beach/kinosaki onsen are good but out of season at the moment.

The juhachi ticket may not be the best bet if you're only staying in the Kyoto/Kobe/Osaka area. Hanshu tickets for Osaka<->Kobe and Osaka<->Kyoto are usually only about 400 yen each way. Probably a better idea to go out and visit places a bit more expensive.

If you're going to be there in July/August definitely check out the PL fireworks, Takeno beach, Nara park, Gion Matsuri and the Daimonji. I love the summer a lot more than the spring, if you can't tell Wink
