OK, here's the deal. My producers in LA are looking for new material. They tell me that Reality TV is soon going to run it's course, so they want me to write a sit-com about a private detective to be set in Akron, Ohio. I said, WHAT???

Exactly. You're with me. Reality TV is going to run and run and run, isn't it? Are you following my drift now?

What I want is some advice in putting together a scenario for a REALITY ESL CONCEPT to present to my production company. The girls, the guys, the island, the T & A, the bitchiness, the snobbery, the cliques and claques....the---WhatEVER!! I don't care if it's been done before or done to death! I NEED some HELP here, people!!!!

Yes I have seen a few of the shows. Not bad, but a little cheesy. It isn't very realistic, but then following a bunch of avg. EFL teachers around would be pretty boring. Not a lot of glamour for me out there.

I've seen that show and I certainly hope they are not "average EFL'ers". *cringe*

The show did make me feel nostalgic for Taiwan, though, which came as a bit of a shock. Confused

Hey Khmerhit, you wanna film me teaching an ESL class? Very Happy We can take turns...I'll come to Toronto and film you next...then we'll head out to BC and film Mark in one of his classes..."THE ESL IN CANADA SHOW". Laughing

In Japan I had fantasized about writing a TV show where one of the characters was a part time Japanese student/part time EFL teacher. This would have been a relatively young guy who whould have been homestaying with a Japanese family.

I just wanted there to be one character on Japanese TV who was credible and represented my population demographic (and who actually had some character depth.) Sad I even worked out a few story arcs.

In China I just fantasize about TV in general. Crying or Very sad

@Wolf...I don't know about a TV show, but I think that your idea would make a really good (non-fiction) book. Wink

OK, darlings, we've got the funding from the Sperling Institute and Alliance Atlantis. Tony Hopkins is going to narrate, and if we time it right we can catch him in Toronto this week.

Here's the sked: crew gets to Vancouver September 7; we follow Mark around for two days, interior shots of him teaching his Japanese students, exterior shots of him waterskiing. Then we fly to China for Wolf --Sept 10. Interior shots of him leaning over his computer, talking about his childhood friend ATARI and his dream of teaching in the depths of China with only a Mac for company (plus a few million people.) Exterior of Wolf in the tent, at blackboard, with the village kids crowded round. Sept 12: We fly to Nova Scotia by way of Moscow, pick up CaperGirl and her avatar, and whisk them to the Toronto International Film Festival. We want to shoot her avatar walking across the red carpet like Jessica Rabbit, flirting with Tony and Nicholas Cage. Then we take Capers to a nearby school and do some interior shots of her teaching. Another shot of her shaking her head in commiseration at the loss of stuednts caused by SARS, with her avatar winking at the audience, saying Toronto is Cool, kids. No SARS!! Also we want to get a shot of her telling the DOS what a great teacher Khmerhit is and to give him a job, dammit. OK, all set dahlings? Let's rrroooll.

Well, Khmerhit, I don't think ESL in Canada is all that exciting. You might want to spend most of your production time in Asia, where all the real fun is. Shocked Very Happy I wish I'd had a videocamera with me on some of my "adventures" in Korea and Taiwan...people eating pig rectums on Fear Factor would pale in comparison. Twisted Evil

Sorry Khmerhit, that wasn't me you found. Wink I only use the name Capergirl on this forum. On other forums, I use a different name. Now that I know you are searching, however, I'll just keep that name to myself. Laughing

Incidentally, I did not vote for Ritchie Wilcox in Canadian Idol. I'm not tone deaf, after all. Twisted Evil Laughing
