Hey, Wanting to know, what is the longest time you've known or heard of someone that's worked for hess or another chain school.

Also, whats the age of the oldest person you've known to have worked or does work for HESS or a chain school?

Thanks

Seven years is about the longest I've heard of someone working for a chain school. I heard about long-term Chain school teachers moving into other countries with new franchises.

I've seen people work for chains for 10 years, however, that is CERTAINLY an exception. The vast majority (I'd say 95%) of teachers teach in Taiwan for 1-3 years and go home. Now, you ask a very interesting question: Is that's the case, why?

I think it's likely because of the teaching environment. It's different than teaching at home in a lot of ways. There isn't the summer break to recharge. The long term benefits: pension, retirement, etc. don't exist to any great degree in Taiwan. In short, it's difficult to see a long term future teaching here.

This all may change, the buxiban industry is still relatively young in Taiwan. I'm also simplifying what is a very complex question. Someone could (and should!) write their thesis on the Taiwan buxiban scene.

By the way, you may also want to consider Reach To Teach or Dewey as they will also provide you with good choices.

I have a very good friend who has been working for one of the big chains for over 15 years now. Pretty rewarding to see his kids grow I am sure. The same chain has another teacher who has worked there for 11 years. Both are very dedicated and well respected teachers who could have started their own schools but chose to stay employees. They both have non-education related businesses on the side now as they have earned their permanent residency certificates but they remain full time employees of the chain school.

And no its not me Laughing
