Hello there...
I made it! Just arrived in Minia..in the El-Menia state this week. The NGO staff I am working with is amazingly friendly. I still have alot of adjustments to make, ie: the noise, the dust, and the fact that people stare at me wherever I go.
I'll be planning some weekend trips to Alex and Cairo- please feel free to get in touch.
THANK YOU to the very cool posters who gave me the "courage" to come to Egypt in the first place.

Mabruk! Keep up informed about how things go.
You will be amazed at how quickly you don't notice the dust and chaos.  The noise I never got used to, but you even learn to ignore the staring and catcalls (esp in Cairo). I'm sure that the staring is probably worse there because they don't have many expats or tourists there.
