What I have read is that you are initially given a 90-day visa and then your school will convert it to a one-year for you. You submit your letter of admission from the school when you apply for the visa. Most of the schools in Asia require you to pay up-front to receive the letter (you end up wire transferring the funds for your first term). |

You gotta be enrolled in a full-time course in order to qualify for a student visa - 20 hours + if my memory serves me right. Similar rules apply in most countries I should think. |
