Who here is or has been a member?

I'm wondering if some of you could share their thoughts or opinions on the organization.

If the higher-ups like you, then maybe they'll let you do a presentation. Then you can put it on your resume and tell people, "oh, yeah, I have to give a presentation this weekend and I've been so busy."

Of course, the downside is that you have to sit through all the boring presentations of all of the rest of the brown-nosers.

But it should make you feel good, you know, getting together with colleagues and blabbing and whatnot.

I have belonged, at one time or another to TESOL and variety of local TESOL-type organizations and have generally found them of only limited usefulness. Most useful when looking for a job - least useful when reading presentations from conferences (some of which, if you have any experience in the field - you will find had to take seriously).

A good networking opportunity though. The long-term usefulness of a subscription probably would relate directly to how far up - in a fairly horizontal field - you might want to go.
