Hey all! I have really enjoyed reading your discussions and they have opened my eyes to dubai. This is my first time to write on the dubai forum since I currently live in Egypt. I am coming to dubai april 8th till the 12th and I need some help. Where can I stay that will not empty my bank account. I looked at hotels online but they start at $100 a night and that is really steep. Any ideas? Anyone willing to do an exchange, I stay with you and then if you come to egypt you can stay with me, or I can just pay ya? I am an American female(from Pa and Boston), married(coming alone), non-smoking, neat, etc. Help!!! Christina |

Colleagues of mine stay at the Gulf Pearl, a presumably decent 2-star that charges Dh. 300 ($80). Google "cheap hotels in Dubai" and you can find a few others for that price, such as the Residence Beniyas Square. The Golden Sands is a decent apartment hotel that charges about the same.
To rough it even cheaper, just go to Dubai without reservations and enter the Naif Souk, which has a selection of one-star establishments. |

You might want to check out the Lonely Planet Thorntree discussion board. This same question comes up there a lot. There is a hostel there that gets mentioned...
