Hi - I am planning on coming to Vietnam in the fall to teach- I have visited Vietnam twice already but never stayed for more that 2 months. I realize that all of the paperwork is complicated - after reading a lot of threads I still have 2 questions: 1) Can I have my doctor give me my annual physical and type a letter ( on letterhead) stating that I am healthy or do I really need a bunch of tests including cholesterol, HIV and a chest x-ray.? 2) Also, I got both my local police check and the FBI check - do I really need to get these authenticated and translated or can I bring them notarized? Also, is my original college diploma sufficient?

You just do as exactly as stated in the sticky. Otherwise, your application for WP will be rejected by the VN gov't.

Authentication crap is pain in the butt. So get everything authenticated by the appropriate authorities as mentioned in the sticky.

As for the medical check up, do it in Vietnam. It's much cheaper and hassle free since you don't have to get it authenticated and translated, etc. etc. etc.

And as for your original degree cert., that'll suffice. However, be prepare to lose it during WP application process so request a few additional original copy of your degree cert from your University.

If you think all that WP crap is too much BS, you can always just go to Vietnam and sign and renew three (3) month temporary contract and work legally.

Most people get there medical cert done at Cho Lon Hospital in Dist. T (Cho Lon Dist). It's easy and I think costs about 600,000d ($40US). Go in on a Friday and it will be done in Vietnamese, stamped and ready on Monday.
