Would you go for local hire or foreign if offered a position? Foreign offers more pay and perks but then i'll be bound to that particular school. Also, I'm on my husband's sponsorship, is it a problem to go onto someone else's sponsorship ?
One other thing, I am an unqualified teacher but have a few years experience teaching in the MIddle East .I was wondering if i will need to provide a certfied degree if i accept the foreign position.(the school is aware that i do not hold a degree). It is a worry.
Any advice please............ |

If you went under the sschool's sponsorship and wanted to quit later on, it would be a hassle to transfer back to a dependent visa...quite possible but a hassle - tell the school that your husband's company won't switch visas of dependents....
ministry of education has been cracking down on non-qualified (no certificate no degree) teachers.....inspectors regularly see the files of new teachers but schools also switch files or outright 'doctor the files'.
technically if a school has international and kuwaiti certification it has to have a HIGH percentage of teachers certified and degreed and teaching in their fields but are allowed some who are not....don't show your fear or the school will try to get you at a lower salary |

Hi !5yearsinQ8,
Thanks for your advice. I've spoken to another teacher and she says that it is possible to remain on my husand's sponsorship but sign a contract as foreign hire. She has advised me to try and get the school to accept this. The package as foreign hire that i have been offered is really good (this according to teachers who ave been here a while). What do you think of this option? Is is possible? |
