Hi 2 years ago I went to Vietnam to teach and on my second day in HCMC I fell and broke my leg very badly (the bone was sticking out). So after two years of rehab, several surgeries and lots of hardware in my leg I am planning on coming back. Mind you, I have led a normal life since recovering and am teacher and active person. My school lets me take time off as an exchange teacher and I feel like I have to give this another try. I have 2 questions A) I would like to be able to walk to school in 10 minutes or less (as walking long distances hurt my leg and I am scared of bikes due to an accident in Italy). What schools are close to nice districts to live? B) If I do volunteer work, upon my return to USA, my home school will give me a bonus what are the options for meaningful volunteer work in HCMC?
Thanks so much for your thought and ideas!!!! |

Glad that you're doing well from the unfortunate incident.
If you're gonna do some volunteer work, don't work for any of the language mills. I recommend doing it at orphanages around HCM city. Do a google search for orphanages in VN and you will get several hits.
I've done some volunteer work for orphanages and it was extremely rewarding experience. I highly recommend it. The kids are angels. |
