When I do decide to come to Japan, I want to take up some Karate. Does anybody have the scoop on Karate schools in Japan? I want to know if there are a lot of them and if they are expensive. Also how is the martial arts scene there in general? Thanks.

I've had a look at Kyokushinkai (somewhat lumbering), Daido-juku (fun, 'cos they do takedowns and groundwork/submissions, as well as a fair bit of pad work), Wado-ryu (kind of middling, not traditional, nor innovative, enough) and Shotokan (technically impressive, but boy do they like their kata). I guess karate isn't bad (some other arts don't work up much of a sweat), but it can get boring. Doing it at university was enough for me. Cool

But hey, if you stumble across a real Mr Moneygi (no relation to Miyagi clan) then give us the scoop, eh!

Yes all of my research slaves did die off. I'm currently taking applications. PM me if you're interested. Benefits: daily whippings and 3 meals a day of slop, a fully furnished dungeon complete with torture chamber. 60 year renewable contract.

I will tell you, but first you have to beat me in a one-armed duel. Seriously.

I'm sorry but I don't fight people who only have 1 arm.

Touche.

But seriously, I know lots of useful places for non-karate martial arts, just not karate.
