When I do decide to come to Japan, I want to take up some Karate. Does anybody have the scoop on Karate schools in Japan? I want to know if there are a lot of them and if they are expensive. Also how is the martial arts scene there in general? Thanks. |

I've had a look at Kyokushinkai (somewhat lumbering), Daido-juku (fun, 'cos they do takedowns and groundwork/submissions, as well as a fair bit of pad work), Wado-ryu (kind of middling, not traditional, nor innovative, enough) and Shotokan (technically impressive, but boy do they like their kata). I guess karate isn't bad (some other arts don't work up much of a sweat), but it can get boring. Doing it at university was enough for me.
But hey, if you stumble across a real Mr Moneygi (no relation to Miyagi clan) then give us the scoop, eh! |

Yes all of my research slaves did die off. I'm currently taking applications. PM me if you're interested. Benefits: daily whippings and 3 meals a day of slop, a fully furnished dungeon complete with torture chamber. 60 year renewable contract. |

I will tell you, but first you have to beat me in a one-armed duel. Seriously. |

I'm sorry but I don't fight people who only have 1 arm. |

Touche.
But seriously, I know lots of useful places for non-karate martial arts, just not karate. |
