I did the PNET interview today, and offer the following suggestions:
Be able to talk about the increasing importance of reading comprehension in the public school system (apparently, there are 3 distinct types of reading strategies in the PNET curriculum), and what you would do as a NET to foster this apsect of English education.
Be able to talk about what your English classroom would look like, and I'm not talking about paint colour or window shades. How could you set up your classroom to enhance/encourage an English-only environment.
As a NET, you will be asked to participate in staff panel groups, the aim of which will be to enahnce the curriculum, and offer assistance to your Chinese colleagues. What can you offer in the process? I found the question a bit vague, so just offered up some banal answer about the importance of consultation.
The short essay I was asked to write: "Imagine you are writing your first article for the school newsletter... write an article, stressing your skills and what you would do to enhance English at the school..."
I'm never much good at these types of situational questions, especially when I know so little about the actual situation - over an above what the official web sites say. So if you can prepare some quick answers to some of these, with examples, it will help your cause. |
