I applied for an ESL Instructor job a few weeks back and since then I have received a few contacts from a Mr Johani. I have a few reservations as 1) the email address is from a hotmail address not a University address and 2) the messages are vague bordering on strange.

Has anyone got any info about this Uni ?

I have a wife and a baby who I would be moving with, I currently live in Japan but after 10 years wish to get out.....

Also with a B.A/TEFL/MSC/MA and PhD just started what kind of salary should I be expecting ?

Many Thanks

Why not check their web site: http://www.ksu.edu.sa/english/index2.php (English site).

It seems the link to the College of Languges is not working!! Typical third world university!
But, if you check the Arabic site, you will get a link called: College of Languages and Translation, http://colleges.ksu.edu.sa/lang/index.php, which I guess is the same for the English site, but missing the word 'Translation' in the English version!!

I checked their Arabic web site, and Dr Aljohani exists and indeed he is the HOD of the English department. The Arabic web link is: http://colleges.ksu.edu.sa/art/index.php?mod=view_content&content_id=250[url]
It seems all the staff are non native speakers!!

I think this is a typing mistake, instead of 'Saud' they wrote 'Suad' !!!

My point...seems to have escaped you.
How could a webmaster for King Saud University misspell the name of the University on their web site banner....Helloooo.....that's not just a minor typo.
And now that my royal identity has been discovered....wonder what my first royal decree will be? hmmmm.... so much to consider.
Besides spelling class for all webmasters in Saudi Arabia.....
I think a requirement for all Saudi's to take and pass a more rigorous Driver's Education class is a good place to start.
Lesson 1: Left lane is to be used for left-hand turns. Right lane is used for right-hand turns. The opposite seems to be the norm now.
Lesson 2: Honking your horn while stopped at the red light does not release the evil ginns inside the stop light. Just wait patiently for the light to turn green.
Lesson 3: Ask yourself this question: Why are there lane dividers painted on all streets? Correct answer to divide roadway into separate lanes. Two lane dividers does not equal 6 car lanes. This was so much easier when camels were used for travel.
Lesson 4: Generally posted speed limit should not be exceeded by more than 10 miles per hour.
Lesson 5: Watch for Police cars parked in traffic lanes on the road. This is an attempt to keep you alert so that you can avoid cars turning left from the right-hand lane in front of you.

So much to be done....traffic seemed like a logical place to start.

This is the English official web site for King Saud University:
http://www.ksu.edu.sa/english/index2.php
And it seems to me the word 'Saud' is written correctly.

The official banner for the College of Languages and Translation in King Saud University is:

http://colleges.ksu.edu.sa/lang/index.php

(MOD edit)

I wonder if you could point us to the official web address of King Saud University, where it is written King Suad instead of Saud?

Your excellency, your first and last royal decree will be the following:

Resign from your post of Prince, take a taxi, and go home to sleep Laughing

Bobby321,

Dr. Johani is the name of the man who does the hiring for the English literature department at King Saud. His strange emails probably are an indication of the level of professionalism at the college. I've heard the vacation and hours are good there, but the pay will probably be on the lower end for teaching positions in Riyadh. Have you looked at some of the recent job advertisements for positions in Riyadh? They may offer better packages than KSU.
