I have completed my TEFL courses online but do not have an associates degree. I recently ran across a way for me to get my associates degree online through life experience. The two main universities were belford and rochville. Is there any possible way for me to get a job teaching english in taiwan with an associates degree through one these universities plus an online TEFL certification? Can I get a working visa? |

My advice would be not to waste any money on an online degree no matter how good they make it sound.
There is a reason that people give up years of their life to study at university and the associated study costs and loss of income that come with this. I have never really understood the logic that seems to suggest that it is possible (or even should be possible) to think that you can pay a fraction of this money to get the same thing online overnight.
The government has a list of approved institutions that they will accept degrees from and I doubt that any 'institution' that offers an online degree will be on that list.
Go back to school and get a degree if you are convinced that you want to work in Taiwan, or if you are not so fussed about where you want to work then try China as it is far easier to work illegally there than in Taiwan. |

Even though Clark W. sounds a little grouchy, he's absolutely correct, at least where Taiwan is concerned. Taiwan's Ministry of Education won't no-way-no-how accept no degrees earned on no computers, no correspondence schools, no distance-based learning, no satellites, no nothing. In fact, even though I completed my PhD the old-fashioned way (seems like I sat in the same University of South Dakota classroom for three years), I took my oral exam and defended my dissertation via satellite link (connected through the Tainan Science Park). Boy did I catch a lot of guff for that one.
In fact, I'm still trying to get my damned school to give me my damned promotion |
