I have been teaching my own private classes(adults) in Tokyo now for nine years and each year escape to Australia to escape the Tokyo summers. My grown up children now live and work in Adelaide and that will be my destination this summer - July to September 2007. I have just completed a M.Ed(TESOL) online. Can anyone help me find a part-time-casual position teaching TESOL during this period.
Thanks,
Jack |

I worked a 10 week stint here on returning from China. Professional, demanding, satisfying and great colleagues.
The pay?

Took your advice and got a 6 week stint with this organisation. Interesting but hard work. Nice to return to the leisurely pace - with my polite, cultured Japanese students

Agreed Jack. The work is much harder in an "at home" ESL environment compared to an EFL one. I've never had it so easy as when I was in China. Here in OZ you really earn your money. But glad the advice paid off for you. I may go back there part time when I retire from my real tenured job. |

I came back to Japan white-haired and worn-out after 6 weeks. I was given the job of teaching the O.E.T. course to migrant doctors and medicos. I spent all my time researching medical information and preparing lessons. What a steep learning curve! Fortunately my major before retiring to teaching was ag.science so I had a biology background.
The manager fortunately gave me great support and offered me part-time teaching if I go back there. In the near future,on retirement, I will do one lesson per week and enjoy my children and grandchildren, and the beautiful par 3 golf course along the river. |
