I have a dog that I am considering taking with me to either Colombia or Chile - does anyone know what either country is like as far as quarantine times, ease of entry with a pet and the population's general attitudes towards pets?
thanks,
Michael

Several months ago I was planning to enter Colombia with pets. If you are coming from the US, there is no quarentine. Just have a valid health certificate stamped by the USDA, and rabies shots that are up to date.

Oh, I forgot to add that Colombians love dogs, especially French Poodles and Chow Chows. They absolutely detest cats, which they feel are the spawn of Satan. You definitely find more of a selection of dog food in the Colombian supermarkets than cat food.

thank you for the tip - the vets here in the states are okay but not the best at providing info. i have just finished getting all i needed (info wise) and now it will just take 1/2 day to get the certificate and get it endorsed.
the first time i talked to the USDA the vet told me all i needed was the cert then he said 'oops... that was the old one i was looking at...' and i do need an additional stamp from them... are you confused?? well ... i am too!!!
anyway - i'm happy i'm taking my dog not matter how much dog s*it i have to put up with from the Gov't.
