I got this from the new English Centre ad:
"In addition, we welcome you to investigate and discover that our attractive holiday benefits are rather rare in Istanbul these days (see benefits in this advert)."
All they are is you get official Turkish holidays off and 2 weeks a year holiday-they boast about 2 weeks holidays a year-blame the crime for lowering the bar. |

EC used to give 4 weeks off in the summer.
Also, I hear that some teachers are still waiting to be paid from January. |

I feel quite smug and lucky now. 3 weeks off in June, 3 weeks off in September, 2 weeks off in Feb. Paid. Pretty lucky as I'm getting married in Sept so could do with the time off for a party here, party in the UK and actually to get married, just the two of us, in jeans. |

That's what I did! I was also wearing hiking boots. The Justice of the Peace wasn't actually going to marry us because she didn't think my Turkish was good enough to understand what I was getting into. So we offered her a "present" (read- bribe) and all was good. |
