Did any of you get malaria and yellow fever (etc.) vaccinations before you traveled? I'm being told not to bother by a lot of people who have spent time down there.
Thanks! |

If you go ANYWHERE near the Amazon.....I'd advise it!!! I did and never went there but had it just in case I decided to travel to the area. I also recommend Hep A for food poisoning. |

I lived in Manaus (north, Amazon region) for almost two years and also spent weekends in remote villages. I never took malaria pills. I did have a yellow fever shot, but that was because it was required when i traveled back into Brazil from Venezuela.
I got sick, but never had malaria or dengue or any other 'jungle' disease. If you get sick, you can always get medicine from the pharmacy. |
