how many times a day do you check the forum and what topics are you most hoping to find when you do?

complaining about work
complaining about someone elses work
making fun of turks
the odd bit of interesting but generally useless info
the odd bit of useful but inaccurate info
the jobs that pay more than you're getting
pointless banter on unrecognizable shapeless topics
beer
football
sex

Pointless banter, self isolating in-jokes, and a bit of venting.

All of the above with the exception of football. I could not careless about football but everything else rings true. It is my deepest shame. lol The best is when someone else cofesses how horrible their job is. It always makes me feel better knowing that someone else is also suffering at their job. Its very motivating. I know it is a truism but misery really does love company.
There is nothing more irritating then some pollyanna, who rationalizes every abhorrent, bizzare, or exploitative policy or behavior at work. Usually, the person begins the rationalization with you have to understand or you need to understand.
Lets face it one of the best parts of having a job is bitching and moaning about it.

My boss thinks I am working when I am here. she doesn't speak that much English so I just point out the esl and Turkey part and she thinks I am busy doing recruitment or something.

I like to come here to talk to the lowlives, deadbeats and losers who work in TEFL.

And the wonderful people who work in the field of cross-cultural communication.
