Depends how much the school wants/needs you. Complicates paperwork. They need to submit a copy of your diploma. |

Schools want "the stamped diploma" But if the dudes who provide you the visa do their job, they'll call up your school to make sure it's real, like they should be doing in the first place... (yeah, like that happends... only a few provinces are really into this, the others just want the "stamped diploma".) Good luck! (But I've seen a guy get through with a transcript, try...!) |

You should be able to get a certified letter from your Registrar stating that you have completed the requirements for your baccalaureate and that you will receive the actual diploma on such and such a date. Together with a sealed copy of your transcript that ought to suffice. Get someone to translate the letter as well.
That would suffice in court as proof, although who knows in China? |

As others have stated a letter of pending completion from your university is good enough. But....
Here is the But......
I've found that unless you have the parchment, they will accept the completion letters but often try to get you hired in at a lower wage.
Be careful of this, what they do is lets say you were offered 5500 RMB a month. Since you don't have the parchment they will often state that you will get 5000 RMB a month and when you show the parchment you will get the other 300-500. (This is done after you arrived to sign the real contract)
Later, when you show the parchment they will drag their feet getting you the extra money promised. Sometimes they will state , "We cannot change the contract, but next contract you will be paid higher."
I've seen it happen to those that have a special situation with a degree problem like yours.
You must be careful this doesn't happen, but this is a common problem these days. (Any excuse to save a few hundred a month is used)
My suggestion, find someone that already has graduated at your school, scan their degree, photoshop out their name and date, put your information in it.
Just be honest about it, don't give yourself a PhD or dual degree if you didn't earn it.
Studies say many of the degree holders in China have fake credentials. This was in "That's Beijing magazine" 5 years or so ago.
In your case, you are not a fake, but only getting a copy of the degree early because of the stupid printing regulations.
Insure you tell your university to MAIL you your original degree and that you will NOT be at commencement to pick it up. This way as soon as it's printed you will receive it. |
