J.R. - enough to get by and enjoy the city. Not to save or live large or build a future.

It's getting tough to be enthusiastic about giving you info, as you're repeating yourself in this forum, and your apparent interest in about ten different countries all over the board don't inspire detailed responses.

Don't get me wrong - it's absolutely legit to ask many questions so that you can make informed decisions. It's just that this one's been answered regarding the Czech Rep before....

Thanks, but I am at a crossroads, trying to decide where to go, and trying to make my mind up so I can make a good decision.

I taught in Prague back in the early 90's and my total monthly salary was the equivalent of about $300 US. I hope things have improved a bit since then! Very Happy

Of course my 1 bedroom apartment cost $70 and beer was about 10 cents, so it all worked out in the end. Smile

yeah, now $1000 a month is standard. Few places offer any benefits worth speaking about. Sure, they'll give you a long list like "free tram pass", "free shared internet connection", and so on but omit the biggies like "paid vacation", etc.

A shared room in prague might be available for about $500 a month and beer is about $1.50 at a cheap pub. Times are a-changing! Laughing

Note I'm not whinging - I get full benefits and a better than average monthly income - but when I look at other schools I just have to shake my head and laugh at the sad joke of an offer they make.

Thanks, Merlin, it's interesting to hear about the current situation. One of these days I'm going to have to get back over to Prague and revel in righteous indignation of over how things have changed! Laughing
