Has anyone got any ideas on where to watch tonight's Liverpool v PSV game?... The James Joyce shows the European games but looking for somewhere that doesn't charge tourist prices for drinks?? |

Isn't there a men's thread for this?
Or maybe it should be a free-for-all thread, where I can talk about absorbant blue stars, or the fact that my bellybutton has popped back in and started collecting fuzz again. |

Right next to the James Joyce is a German brew pub called Balans. They usually show the games, but you can always ask for them to be shown as well. If there is a Turkish game on at the same time, they will move you upstairs to the pseudo beer garden. They have over 1000 satellite channels, so if they don't have it in English, at least you can watch it in Arabic or Korean (saw the first leg of the Liverpool vs. PSV match there in Arabic.). As far as the prices go, you get a half liter for 6YTL. If you're in luck they have brewed a fresh batch of Weiss Bier! |

^Have to agree with Shaytess. Balans is the best place for sport and the beer is good too. Chelsea-Liverpool anyone? |

ended up going to the James Joyce in the end. Think I will try Balans next time though... nearly twice the beer for the same price :0). Just me... why should this be in the boys thread?... are girls not allowed to watch the football and discuss the relative merits of one watering hole over another? :0) Anyway, must go, need to crack on with my knitting and get the brownies out of the oven. |

You're right, but we get in trouble for talking about the footie outside the mens thread. Here then are no gender boundries. The ladies can talk about football and cricket and the blokes can talk about cooking and muff diving. |

I wasn't being otterish, honest! I think the idea of thread limits could just as well be abolished, and all threads are good for all people and all topics. Much as I loathe hippies, I kind of am one, even without the special brownies.
Really, I was just looking for an excuse to mention my bellybutton...
And maybe I was being a little bit bitter, as it will be a long time before I can go to this wonderful Balans for beer... |

You could always try Bar Mitzvah for the England Israel match ...
On the subject of being silly, can anyone tell me why the Sirens thread was locked ... we hadn't even got to the TEFL cyclops, the enormous one-eyed monster that shafts the unwary ... |
