IMHO, using a recruiter is a very bad idea. There may be the occasional reputable recruiter, but many are just out to make a buck.
Look at the various ads for the country you're interested in, select the schools you're interested, and start doing some basic research: ask here in the forums about those schools, ask for references from previous or current teachers, search the net for the name of the school, etc. |

LS650 has lots of good tips.
Further, ask to speak/write to some of their current/former teachers. If you get good feedback, that would make me feel a lot better about accepting a position.
I don't believe you really need to seek out a recruiter, although many schools use them. There's nothing wrong with them per se, just make sure you're not paying them anything and that you absolutely are speaking with the school and its teachers directly before you accept a job. |

This guy says in his guide that recruiters should be used as a last resort:

Can't you just talk directly with some of the schools? I see plenty of ads from the schools themselves and the recruiters seems so sleezy... |

you can use one if they have a personal knowledge of the school or the area..but without that ad vantage..they are useless.. |

right on. I've just heard too many horror stories involving them. I'm going to avoid them. |
