Reading the postings on this forums, it seems that everyone gets a job relatively easy if they speak English and have a good personality. But obviously at a reputable school, they would try to weed out all the bad teachers. For those who are currently working in Costa Rica, I was curious as to what typical questions are asked during the interview process and what questions you absolutely have to make sure you ask the employer (or looking back which ones you wished you asked). I'm just trying to prepare myself the best I can before heading down. Thanks.

Interview? I never went to a formal one. They had a couple of sessions where they showed me around, asked me a few questions, but never the kind of desk-between-us deal where I was put in the hotseat. I imagine what they primarily wanted to know about me was if my English was good enough.
Guess it depends on the school, though. Some do have more formal interviews, presumably, and they would be asking about the same stuff as in any other job interview. :) Helpful? Yes! |
