Have any of you ever taught at Tsinghua University? I'm looking for information on the teaching and living conditions for foreign English teachers there. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post publicly. Thanks.... |

No first-hand experience but it's one of the two best universities in China (the other one being Beijing University). The students there would definitely not be your typical lazy, unmotivated and uninterested Chinese college/university students. I'd imagine they expect high-quality FT's. |

I worked there part-time a few years ago. I got the job through a friend. I wouldn't recommend it. I agree with Shakhbut about the accommodation and negotiated to live off-campaus with them paying me an allowance. Sorry, tw, but I thought the students were really bad. There were a few excellent ones, but the average level was poor. They can memorise a random list of the letters A, B, C, D better than any other group of people in the world, however. |

From what I have seen Tsinghua students don't impress me. I hate to say it but that campus looks like a community college to me. |

Garbotara,
What do you base that on? Have you actually taught there? And why don't they impress you - can you be a bit more specific?
Thanks. |
