There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people in the forum, so I�m hoping someone who�s been in a similar situation can offer me advice. I�ve taught for the last few years in Mexico, with a FM3. I�m expecting a baby in summer, and I�m not planning to work next year. My boyfriend is Mexican. So if I�m not planning to work, what do I do about the FM3, or do I need to get another kind of visa? Please advise.

Unless you go back to being in Mexico on a tourist card you will need to show proof of support income for the purposes of any FM3. There are various ways to do this, and they have been discussed here fairly recently. The last 3 months deposits of the minimum required for "Rentista" FM3 are the key, unless you have retirement savings equal to the minimum requirement for the year. Some INM offices will take internet copies of bank statements, others want originals.

You may want to speak to Immigration about the possibility of the "Ama de Casa" FM3 being as how you are expecting a Mexican baby. I think you may have to be married to your Mexican, who must show some proof of income (to INM) to support you and maybe even your baby, but check your personal situation with them anyway. You never know with Immigration how the rules will apply until you check. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for your help. I went to immigration and it was much easier than I expected it to be. They were so helpful. I will be classed as a "dependiente familiar".
