What would be the wage range for skills and certifications that most schools pay you on. I know you'll have to generalize but, at least it will give everyone a current up to date going rate for ones qualifications:
250,000 yen
- Bachelors
add yen
+CELTA
add yen
+TEFL
add yen
+1yr teaching experience
+2
+3
+4
+5
add yen
+Masters (general)
add yen
+Masters in Teaching/Lingusitics/TOSEL
add yen
+White guy
-Asia
-Aussie Accent
- - Aussie & Asia
++English/Wales
-+Eastender (just kidding)
(no judgement on race or accent here just free market demands)
add yen
teaching Latin America
teaching in Europe
teaching in Asia

If you have no experience teaching in Japan, then most of those things don't mean much. You're going to be looking at 180,000 to 280,000 yen/month as a starting wage range, depending on employer and size of the city.
A place like NOVA will pay a mere 5000 yen/month more for someone with a master's degree, I believe. Not everyone does that, so this is just one case in thousands. |

Aussie accent is a negative? Do you mean a broad, "G'day owzit goin cobber, i'm gonna whack some snags on the barbie, bring ya old woman and yer esky cuz we're gonna get maggoted?" Or you you see that there is some discrimination against the 'colonials'? |
