I have taught elementary students in government schools in Australia and at an international school in China over the last 20 years and I am now looking at teaching TEFL/TESOL in Asia. I have looked at the jobs advertised on this site and quite a few of the jobs require TEFL certificates. Given my teaching experience, how important is the TEFL certificate? I was also thinking of doing a TEFL course in Thailand. Any recommendations for a particular venue?  |

It really depends on the country and the school in question. Some have requirements and others don't really care what qualifications you have as long as you can do the job. I'd recommend that you check to see where grads of a particular TEFL program are working before you sign up. |
