i'm in central Istanbul so my list is limited.
Having lived in the Ege region before I know you guys in Izmir have it better for getting away for the weekend.
(I mentioned on another thread)
1. under Galata Bridge- which side depends on the time of day.
2. Nevizade... all times all day( I am usually found on the corner of Balo sok. at adress
3. the places on the water, near the Bozi, next to the mosque in Ortakoy
4. the teras opposite Gloria jeans in Bebek(french name I cant remember)
5. the teras overlooking the bozi in the pasaj near adakule
6. the secret pasaj down in tunel
7. 5. kat behind the german hospital
8.tekke in Etiler(if you feel like splashing out)
9. Dogstar iki behind ET in Beyoglu
10)Rumeli hisari for breakfast at the weekend.
I could go on. But I'd like to hear other ideas. What are you doing this summer? |

Taking a bus to Marmaris .
Then hiring a Gulet for a weeks cruise down to Antalya and back
Then back to Bodrum stay with friends at their villa and huge pool as well as visiting the nightclubs .
Then back to Izmir for some decent food and a bit of r and r in Kusadasi
After that a well deserved break attending summer school til the end of the summer apart from local trips at the weeeekend just to get wasted
finally a little bit of meet the family over for their hols in late August /early Sept just use them as an excuse to skive off work .
Then kiss them goodbye and back to the grindstone for another fun year at the house of fun. A well known .................. you know the rest ! |

Ollie, sounds good to me.
If I had the business contacts in Izmir I'd be back.
Enjoy |

ollie forgot about the weekend on the greek islands and the 101 bars along the kordon.
also, for those interested, a trip to one of many ancient greek cities and possibly a weekend in istanbul (1.5 hours away from my front door + 1.5 hours from the ist. airport to the bars in taxim)
Diyarbakr is also an option |

Well if one were to stay here all summer, the holiday would be a fascinating mixture of staying indoors at home and staying indoors at a shopping mall ... but as luck would have it, I'm not that stupid ... and this year's holiday will be spent -
Trekking in the Crater Highlands of Northern Tanzania for a week
Loafing around Zanzibar's Stone Town & beaches for a week or more
Visiting Istanbul for a month or so
Renting a Yazlik on the Aegean for a week or two
... classes all but finished ... 5 weeks left and counting ... |

Hire a sea taxi (very small open top wooden fishing boat) for the evening from behind the Galata Bridge and take a romantic cruise up the Golden Horn or the Bosphorus if your feeling brave.
The Moda iskelesi for anytime of time.
Liman, which is down from İsktiklal on the street the runs along Galata High school.
Eat stuffed mussles and drink cold beer on Akbiyik cd. in Sultanahmet or sit up on a terrace.
Go to the Goethe terrace restaurant off İstiklal.
Pasific in Tunnel Pasajı
Son Gemi in the Kadikoy Balik pazaar.
5.Kat is fab and friendly (thay keep sending me text messages)
Nevizade is fab in Winter, Summer or whenever.
I might bump into you one day, Dmb. |

Well if you bump into me, I'll buy you a lime and soda. You should recognise me from the telly, but if not, I'll know around nevizade simply as "The Scarlet Monk" |

why are camels called 'the ships of the desert?'
*gets one hand ready on his coat, slips on sprinting shoes*
because they're full of Arab seamen.
*whoosh!* |
