Hi,
I've been lurking around the boards for a couple of months. My girlfriend and I are planning on being in Chile for July-December, and I'm hoping to get a position. While I've read that positions rotate fairly frequently throughout the year, I'm still curious about how easily I'll be able to get a job. I've studied two years of Spanish, I'm TEFL certified from on-site classes, and I hold a B.A. in English.
1) How difficult is it to get a job in Chile at the semester break (a.k.a. July) and how long beforehand do you recommend getting there? Also, how impossible is it to get a job for a short duration (in this case, six months)?
2) How do you advertise/set up private lessons with students if you are unable to find a teaching position immediately?
I have savings to use while in town, but hopefully I won't have to burn through all of them. My goal is to *almost* break even, not make a profit. |
