I left Samsun for 5 days for my nuptials and on my return I see Deulcom International have opened and are advertising for teachers on TEFL.com!

I am half tempted to apply as I miss teaching and think working with my husband day in and day out might not be so good for us. Have heard they can pay late though.

Anyway good news for me whether or not I apply as it means there will be some other natives around me.

Will be interested to see how foreign teachers fare in Samsun....

Hi TT,

Just thought I would say hi. I am glad that I am not the only Brit in Samsun then.

Hope to see you around one day

Thanks Just Me and Lovelace.

I actually married i.e. went to the town hall, three weeks ago and that was a very happy day.

The wedding party which took place last weekend was a bit of an ordeal. Basically I had no say in anything at all, everything had to be arranged for the convenience for my husband's evre! Anyway I went and did my bit, dancing on command etc. As a cultural experience it was interesting, that's about all I can say!!

How very diplomatic of you. I know exactly how you feel. Best wishes for the future to you both!

(I'm having a rare opportunity to type with both hands, but I hear the little one waking up and I don't have time to find one with Atatrk...)

Hayırlı olsun, iyi gnlerde kullanın!

Thanks Just Me! Yes you have been through it too. If you are going to feed the baby now please put your slippers on! Actually a lot of the trouble on my henna night came down to my mother-in-law being very controlling about my feet, but that is a long story!

Thanks also for the gold coin, no problem about Attaturk. My husband has sold all my wedding gold already and I am missing it slightly so quite happy to get a coin of my very own, especially with the Queen's head Wink

That last post puts my husband in a slightly bad light and I should add that prior to the wedding I had said I would sell any gold, he was just quicker off the mark than I expected! I was getting used to the merry clink of gold bangles.

Oh sorry Justme, have just realised I have been typing your name incorrectly all this time, you should have slapped my wrist.

I might, if I hear anything about you going around without your slippers on...

I didn't think selling the gold so fast put your husband in a bad light at all. Mine took ages getting around to selling ours. There's hardly a point to having gold if you don't sell it!

We've been getting all this gold for the baby now too. Little guy's way richer than his folks. My plan is to put it towards his bribe-himself-out-of-the-miltary fund...

What do you think DMB?

For the people of Samsun it could be a good thing depending on the quality of teaching of course. For me, it could also be a good thing, I might be able to get work there and also meet some more people.

I would be interested to see how other foreigners fare up here in the conservative north, it's got a very different vibe to Istanbul but if someone wants the true Turkey far from the tourists it could be right for them.
