Just been reminded of this on another thread. Sounds pretty good to me. I really don't know kyoto well at all so would anybody care to recommend a friendly place. Also coming from Osaka what line and station would be best?
Actually is like a whole area that you can roam around going from bar to bar?

"beer by the river" does not refer to going to a bar by the river. It refers to buying some beer at a conbini or vending machine, walking down to the riverbank (most people go between shijo and sanjo, but the fork up north by imadeegawa is also popular), plopping down, and drinking it. |

yep, anywhere along the river is ok, as long as it isnt too close to the homeless people under the bridge coz they might be sleeping. |

the most popular spot is just down from sanjo (which is good for meeting people if you're from out of town). it's much quieter further down towards shijo. [/i] |
